Today, July 30, 2009, we received an e-mail acknowledgement letter & Matching Grant Number 71038 from our Grant Coordinator, Mireya Morales, of the Rotary Foundation Humanitarian Grants Staff. This e-mail formally acknowledges receipt on July 13, 2009, of our MG application to provide books, furniture & other equipment to 3 libraries in Hermanas Mirabel, Salcedo, Dominican Republic. This will be our fourth WCS project in two years with the Club Rotario Salcedo! It's been an exciting & fulfilling relationship.
Although this is great news, they caution us that this doesn't necessarily mean the grant will be approved & funded. The Matching Grant budget for the 2009-10 Rotary year is significantly reduced from prior years because of unrealized losses due to the global recession. All applications that are complete & meet all requirements will receive the first chance of funding.
We are confident that our application is complete in every detail. Please think positively with us that our project will be funded. There will be more news for you as soon as we (Josefina & I) know.
