Dear Team,
I just received word from Josefina, our Host Club Rotario Salcedo Contact & Project Coordinator that our new project to equip a physiotherapy center in Salcedo, Dominican Republic, has been funded by our Rotary Foundation. Their Salcedo bank has acknowledged that the funds are on deposit in their Club account. The Club Rotario Salcedo (D4060) representatives are meeting with officials from the Rehabilitation Association to coordinate ordering, shipping & receiving of the equipment from Miami to Salcedo.
Meanwhile our Volunteer Service Grant Application (VSG #64552) is pending approval for our Team to travel to Salcedo January 10-24, 2008, to assist the Club Rotario Salcedo with this project. We expect to hear this month. Our goal will also be to nourish & foster the international good will that we have enjoyed with this special Club & community since our visit there in March 2007 when we equipped a virtual computer library in the Escuela Maria Josefa Gomez. This Club are family to us. And this school is our school; the Principal, Nina, assured us.
Volunteer Service Team members pending approval are Norm Malmberg, Team Leader, Past President Rotary Club of Scott Valley, Diane Pomeroy, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Scott Valley, Dan Speasl, President Rotary Club of Central Point, Pam Malmberg, Rotary Spouse and Sandy Speasl, Rotary Spouse. Norm & Diane were on the March team.
To those other Rotarians in the Rotary Clubs of Salcedo, Scott Valley, Central Point, Eugene & Eugene Metro who are encouraging us & supporting our project, we are grateful. Thank you. We will keep you posted on this Blog Site.
Thanks for all you do for Rotary as together we "Build World Understandings" through "Service Above Self".
